Go to the classic library catalogue.

 

In the search box put your topic. Don't hit enter yet!

 

Choose subject instead of words or phrase and tick the Browse option instead of keyword. See screenshot below.

 

A list will appear like this:

 

 

Click on the word Biology to the left and you will see a list of books about this subject. Notice to the right there is a number 283. This indicates approximately how many titles you will find under that subject. Also you will notice that there are other subjects listed that are more specific that the general term, biology.

 

If you click on the link see related terms for biology, you will see another list of subjects that you might find more suitable than the broad term biology.

 

Finally when you look at your list of book results (by clicking on the word biology from your search), you will see that certain call numbers repeat themselves. If you go to this location you will find other books/dvds on this subject.
